Review sessions for our End of Course classes will continue this week until 4pm on respective days. Math 1 will be holding sessions on Mondays and Thursdays. English 2 will be holding sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays. Biology will be holding sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For all other classes, the National Honor Society is hosting tutoring on Mondays, while Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society is hosting tutoring on Thursdays in the math department. Please make every effort to attend.
Student athletes in need of athletic physicals are reminded of the opportunity to have a sports physical here at NCHS. These will be offered tomorrow, May 16th at 5:30pm in the new gym. Forms can be picked up in the front office.
Any student needing to turn in a note to ask for excused absence approval needs to do so by Wednesday, May 18th. These notes must be from a doctor or dentist to be excused. Please submit these to Mrs. Harris in the front office for approval.
Awards Day has been scheduled for May 20 at 8am beginning with our Senior class. Please look for more information to come regarding this day and specific times per grade level.
EOC testing will be the week of May 23 - 27. All students enrolled in Math 1, Math 3, English 2, and Biology, as well as select Career and Technical Education courses, will be testing during this week. These are required for students, therefore, students must be in attendance during this week.

For the first time EVER we will have two teacher teams competing. The winning teacher team plays the winning student team to get their team name on the coveted NCHS dodgeball trophy. Tickets will be on sale for $2 this week during all lunches. NO tickets will be sold at the door. Don't miss out!

Parents of Juniors and Junior students, please remember the upcoming administration of the ACT on Tuesday, March 1st. Juniors who will be taking the ACT are to report to campus no later than 7:40am Tuesday morning. ACT testing will begin promptly at 8:00am. Freshmen and Sophomores will be in Homeroom on this day working on registration for next school year. Seniors will be offered a 'College Exploration Day' and will not need to report to campus on Tuesday. Our Juniors have been working hard preparing for this ACT administration and we wish them all the very best of luck!
N-CHS will be hosting a OneBlood donation bus on Friday, March 4th. Donations will be accepted between 8am and 1:00pm by appointment. Blood banks are in extreme need at this time. If you are able and willing to donate, please contact tracey.williams@oneblood.org. Thank you in advance for supporting this great cause!
The N-CHS chapter of the National Technical Honor Society will be hosting a yard sale on Saturday, March 5th. This fundraiser will be held at the front entrance and will run from 8am to 12pm. There have been many amazing donations for the yard sale, so please come out to support this organization.
In athletics, we would like to congratulate our Lady Red Devil basketball team on a phenomenal season. Winning the conference title, they lost in the 3rd round of state playoffs Saturday 65-60 to North Surry. We are very proud of these ladies and the way they have represented Newton-Conover High School. We now look forward to our Spring sports seasons beginning this week. Parents and Students as always, please be mindful of our dress code policy concerning midriff shirts (exposed stomach) and hats/hoods. We have seen an influx of students wearing these to school. Please be aware that students will be asked to change or remove should this occur. This could include a phone call home to provide appropriate attire, as well as disciplinary action should student continue not to comply. Please help us with this school policy and its enforcement.
Parents please be aware of new pick up and drop off instructions. Cones have been placed in the front at three stations for drop off and pick up in mornings and afternoons. Please be sure to pull up to the farthest empty station to drop off or pick up your student. Parents are also reminded to exit our lot by turning right. Students are not to be dropped off or picked up along the street or in adjacent parking lots. Please help us keep drop off and pick up as safe and moving steadily as possible.
Please also be reminded of our tardy and attendance policies. Students must be in their classrooms by the tardy bell which rings at 7:40am. Please make sure you arrive to campus in enough time to make this requirement. Repeated tardies will result in disciplinary action as well as possible loss of driving/parking privileges. Tardies, as well as attendance, also affect exam exemption policies for end of the semester. Please be sure to review these policies in our student handbook shared by teachers and on our school webpage. Students are also reminded that if they drive a car to school, they must park in the student parking lot and purchase a parking pass in the front office.
